Yes Alan, freenotifications. These require a password and not PIN to access. Clean up anything found, restart PC and then run again until it comes up clean. Remove whatever it finds. I can guide you how to do this if there are problems. Ask back if in doubt. This will solve most problems and also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method. If you want to keep Malwarebytes as an on-demand scanner then you can turn off its Real Time trial version using the slider buttons on it’s front panel.

I recommend it as the 1 tool for your toolbox. For best WIndows performance, use built-in Defender which gives adequate real-time protection. Once it’s cleaned up and System Files checked, test Edge Settings again to see if we need to repair or reinstall it, too.

I particularly like the History being Weeks, and Days when opened. Edge doesn’t seem to have those, nor indeed do Chrome or Firefox, both of which I dislike as much as Edge on PC though use laptop mainly with win 8. I like the Google toolbar which means I can highlight something and it will display in the search box. Maybe there is some way to do this in Chrome and Firefox but beyond me. This is all very good information; I have Windows 7 and plan to stay with it for as long as possible. When will the “beta” version no longer be “beta”? I’m not really tech savvy, so I’m not inclined to try “beta” versions since I can’t be sure if an issue is a “bug” or just me not knowing what I’m doing. Microsoft has not given any clear indication when it will be finalized, since the focus is on quality and feature parity with the current version of Edge.

Keep in mind, even if you install Edge Beta on Windows 10, it does not remove the original version of Edge, it still co-exist with it.

Microsoft will release the final version as a regular update. I really like the Home, Favourites, Feeds and History, and the tools icons in the top right hand corner of my ie11 screen.
